Return to A Frozen Threat

Session 13: The Siege (7th Kiusta 785 to 9th Kiusta 785)

The Seige of Dramman

The last days.

Roflander’s plans to end the siege still young,

We wait for inspiration to him come.

Daily he calls out with his golden tongue,

It does not end but his words convince some.

The enemy has dwindled down e’er more,

What remains are the devout to their cause,

Brutal, fearless, vicious, warrior giants,

Each one to kill a score,

This gives our great Duke Roflander a pause,

For few have e’er shown him such defiance.

Word comes through scouts that marching from the south,

An army of long beard Frozensky Dwarves,

A cheer escapes e-ver-y giant’s mouth.

It’s now that the mind of our foe absorbs

There is no easy way o’er the valley.

The Duke begins to set his plan afire.

No quarter given for those that remain,

A sight for all to see.

A new energy brings work without tire,

With end in sight, no giant will refrain.

Roflander meets with the dwarven leaders,

Markel joined by three foreign other allies,

First Reik of stone from the clan Sledgehammers,

Owen Windblade who brings us elven ties,

Escalos Thanos bear-er of his light.

They have come in the name of Deities,

To aid our Duke and help him become king.

All three await the fight.

Although these dwarves prefer among the trees,

Thousands of brave archer war-riors they bring.

Plans laid for months now are made to occur.

The walls built high, the pit dug deep, soon ends

The siege; a time that we do all concur

A test to see our will not breaks but bends.

Master dwarven wizards, with spells distract

Will first go out with haste to scatter foes

Then stop any who might escape due north.

Ma-ges Brisbane and Brack

If Lord Enlar is fooled great be his woes.

If they then charge command, “Let them come forth!”

Roflander turns to his other allies,

Loyal humans driven from their north homes,

Yet here for months we often hear their cries,

Children, mothers, fathers oft pray at gloams.

Great Hardrada will lead the War-ri-ors,

By him his stalwart dwarven friend Marhand

And the tracker, archer dour Hipolet

Will make our bar-ri-ers.

Taking with them giants and men to band

Against any march from a northern threat.

Only two ways remain for an escape,

One small blocked by our three lone aides from far,

One large with stone and snow giants will drape.

When it be done, a valley with a scar.

The path is set, the rules laid out, and night

Now falls over us with its quiet calm.

No rain, no sleet, no snow, no freezing chill

But cloud to cover light.

Stasis, Frostine, we say our solemn psalm.

Then tomorrow, let triumph be your will

Roflander calls out at first mor-ning light,

Imploring foes leave now and save their life.

We hope a few will heed and take to flight.

Hours pass, most stay, again ‘tis time for strife.

At noon, spells rain diverse upon their heads,

Scatter, scramble, flee now, for pity’s sake!

Then hear Enlar bellow, “Remain or die!”

Remain upon death beds.

At least one flees and he does with him take,

Two hundred giants all he could ply.

Bolts, rock, boulder, we fling at the small horde.

Will not they end this horrible attack?

They will not flee and soon will meet the sword.

Orders given, giants rush front and back.

Enlar charg-es to-wards the city wall.

A mass of armor fights to-wards the dwarves

And few flee down the cor-ri-dors of death.

Kneeling, a few but stall.

Enlar, a beast without battle he starves,

No other fool would so crave his last breath.

Roflander leads our forces to the wall,

We hold at first killing all that we please,

But trap before Enlar allowed to fall,

We hand to him what he believes are keys.

Into bailey he and his fools do rush,

Sir Damon waits to halt their quick advance,

Fifty do not hear what goes on below,

A fall, a break, the crush.

The gates, the doors, behind and then with lance

Do they get forced into a death that’s slow.

Beyond these walls, more battle did take place.

Markel and the army of Swef fought well,

Forcing arm-ored giants into their space,

No dwarf was lost to death, a tale will tell.

Two dwarven wizards kept giants at bay,

Until those few threw down all their weapons.

On south, their cultist tried to make a run,

A fog, a mist, lightning

He brought these down in hope the path opens,

But ran into the glory of a sun,

With rock and sword, it is his foes winning.

Roflander looks upon the battle field,

Where only kneeling giants can be found.

We hope with victory great wounds are healed,

But likely into more war we are bound.

Staring down into the pit with our foe,

Still movement and yells of death and war come

Whispers for his final death overheard,

“Bring oil, bring fire, Let go!”

To fill the pit are brought oil pots and drum,

The torch is lit and dropped upon his word.

“You who are left are welcome to take food!

Return home now and spread what has occurred!

We will defeat evil and its dark brood!

Had you thoughts to join us let them be spurred!”

With that, many giants journeyed to home.

Our allies came up to the city walls,

Let us all feast and make this day quite jolly,

Loud song, great dance, beer foam.

With so few dead, great cheer in all the halls,

Challenging us now would be only folly.

Roflander serves prayer for the dead and living,

He praises those that came to help out cause,

The Kingmaker takes time to bless our King,

Now he must in accordance with our laws,

Set forth a plan to rule the mountains wide.

With new allies from every compass point,

His mission be a resounding success,

His will to create the tide

That leads to giants willing to anoint.

Great Roflander we ask you Lord to bless!

Session 14: The Rescue of Lor'Jek (8th Leenot 785 to 24th Leenot 785)

 • .Enzo, who has for over a year been scouting and locating Lor'Jek is contacted by the forces of Dramman. For a long time during the siege, they were not able to contact him. He tells them that he has found Lor'Jek and other prisoners and is going to attempt to free him. They respond that they will send help. Owen and Hipolet are chosen to go. The two head north for two weeks until they reach a rendezvous point and find Enzo. They discuss their plan.

 • The next day, Owen creates a insult on the shrine of Frostine of the chosen. Enzo, who has been fomenting anger between the camps at the base, stokes the flames. A confrontation between the giants and chosen begins. In the commotion, the others sneak to the pits where the prisoners are held. Owen creates an illusion to hide them. Hipolet kills the only guard left. Enzo rusts away the grates. The group lets out the prisoners, including Malchia. As most retreat, Malchia sneaks towards the giant chief's tent, who had just left it to deal with the brewing fight.

 • At the tent, Malchia is able to dispel the protections and wards and make it inside. There, he finds living quarters and a magical chest. He dispels the magic on the chest and looks inside. Enzo, hiding among the chosen, makes his way to and inside the tent. The two sort through things and collect up what they can before Enzo teleports them to the meeting point a mile away.

 • The others take the planned route around the camp, stopping only briefly to deal with to guards that happen to be in their way. Hours later, they all meet up and rest for the night.

Session 15: Getting the Escapees to Dramman (24th Leenot 785 to 20th

Mafeeti 785)

 • In the morning, the group collects up the supplies Enzo has hidden and start off towards Dramman. Hipolet says it will take weeks. Malchia scryes Nefario and determines he is okay, but not near. A sending from Roflander to Enzo confirms help is coming in the form of two Icefians who arrive via a prophecy. Two days into their travel, Isaac and Saladien arrive to aid them. They are students from Icefia who have come at the request of Cloud, the great wizard and astronomer. They accept their help.

 • As a storm comes in and slows the pace, the group follows Hipolet's lead. Owen uses illusions to hide their passage. For weeks, they travel. They are attacking by a summoned flying mammoth, who kills Sodor the barbarian prisoner they had freed. The group then kills the beast. A great eagle almost carries off a dwarf, but they kill it before it gets away. When the storm finally passes, they make better progress. Three weeks after they began, they see the String Mountains. Montaron finds a cave to camp in for the night before the last leg of their journey.

 • That night, as Saladien and one of the dwarves are on watch, great toothed cats attack, along with a spellcaster. The spellcaster chills the group in the cave, cats grab and attack them all. Saladien and the dwarf are dragged away. Isaac in knocked out, Malchia is pinned down. Another dwarf is knocked our and the rest are badly hurt. Owen saves the day with a spell that knocks out several cats. Enzo deals with several more cats and the tide is turned. A wall of ice blocks their exit and they are able to heal. When they get out of the cave, there is no sign of the two, Saladien and the dwarf.

Session 16: The Help Improves Dramatically (10th Coustus 786 to 14th Coustus 786)

 • The group arrives in Port Springs. Along the way, the dwarven miners leave. Hipolet says his fair wells and does not enter the city. The others go to the main city and spend a night. When they wake up, they find Montaron, who is now stationed at a shrine, not the high temple. After introductions, he regenerates Malchia's arm. They tell him what has happened and then most go to Copperwick's shop and spend their treasure. That night, they meet at the Gale's Break for dinner.

 • At the dinner, they are joined by Luigi, Russel, Could, and Daane. They talk for hours about what has happened. Cloud leaves to go prepare spells. Vega arrives and gives Malchia an ultimatum based on previous behavior. When Malchia refuses, Luigi disappears and the light go out. The constables arrives and arrest Malchia. He is jailed for three days. They others discuss what they will do next. Saladien and Isaac get teleported back to Icefia.

 • When Malchia is released, he is given to the group outside the city limits. Having decided to investigate the cult of cold and the place called Home, the teleport off and collect Nefario.

Session 17: A Failed Collection (14th Coustus 786 to 18th Coustus 786)

 • The group flies to Dramman to meet with Lord Roflander and find out what has been happening. After waiting for a bit at the city, they are given an audience. Enzo gives details of what he has been doing, and Roflander explains what his scouts have learned. As they are about to leave, a herald arrives, announcing the Collector. The creature enters and after giving a gift to Roflander, demands Montaron return the axe. Montaron refuses. A debate begins. The Collector gates in a white Slaadi. Discussions continue and Russell takes action, Cloud is forced to help him and tries to assault the Collector with little effect. Russel powers himself up and summons two great elementals. The Collector takes control of one elemental and dismisses most of Russell's spells. The others flee, with Russell refusing to leave. Only he and Enzo are left. Roflander banishes the white Slaad. The Collector leaves.

 • The group goes to the bardic college to regroup and prepare for an attack on the base camp of the cultists that had attacked Roflander.

Session 18: The End of a Cult (18th Coustus 786 to 2nd Smofena 786)

 • For several weeks, they prepare the attack on the camp.

 • On the day of the attack, Russel is unresponsive. The group decides to do it without him. They teleport a mile away to the place Enzo had hid all of the supplies before the escape months ago. From there, they cast a variety of spell and fly invisible to the camp.

Session 19: The End of a Cult (2nd Smofena 786 to 19th Smofena 786)

 • The group delivers the crystal ball to Roflander as a gift.
