<img border="0" src="Amansky%20Flag%20for%20Web%20copy.gif" width="432" height="288"> |}  Long before the nation of Amansky came into being, Nipits lived in the jungles north of the Intorian desert.  Known as the Hiding Jungle, it was a place the Nipits could escape to, and where they were notoriously difficult to find.  For centuries, small communities of Nipits lived in the jungles.  They kept to themselves and traded among the other communities, never leaving the jungle.  Their attitude began to change in the early third century AC, when the first Sakor’akai arrived.  Their attitude was very different from the isolationist Nipits of the Hiding Jungle.  At first, the two races avoided each other.  Eventually, the two began to realize that cooperation would benefit both groups.  The leaders of the Nipits and the Sakor’akai met in the mid sixth century, and soon after, the races began to trade and assist each other.

Life continued unchanged for all until the Day of Falling Death and the start of the reign of the Tinkocracy.  Although the inhabitants of the HidingForest went unharmed, they recognized the devastation in the world around them.  After much debate, they decided to find refugees from the Great Plateau and from the halfling communities, and bring them to safety in the jungle.  The jungle swelled with new activity and life.  Cities began to spring up and trade flowed for the first time from the Hiding Jungle.  It took the Tinkocracy some time before they realized that there even was a problem for them in the jungle.  They began a campaign to decimate the Hiding Jungle.  Luckily for its inhabitants, the campaign started only three months before the death of Highlander, and the beginning of the end for the Tinkocracy.  The jungle campaign ended quickly, but had managed to wipe out 100,000 square miles of jungle.

The leaders of the Nipit and Sakor’akai communities began to worry that the peaceful life they had known would come to an end now that the refugees, who began to return home, knew of the wonders of the Hiding Jungle.  They moved to protect themselves by organizing an official government.  One leader from every town, village, and community met to decide how to rule their new nation.  It was decided that the leaders would chose one from their ranks to act as a Chancellor.  The other leaders would have a say, but the Chancellor would break all ties and adjudicate all grievances between leaders.  In 596 AC, they signed the Declaration of Unity and the nation of Amansky, which means “all together” in Nipeete, was formed.

Amansky is a nation that would sooner stay out of the affairs of the world.  They recognize that they cannot completely isolate themselves, but do their best to remain on the fringe of the other nations’ thoughts.  Any military that they possess is purely for defense.  Trading that they do is limited, and done mostly through the halflings.  There are a variety of religions and cults active in Amansky, another fact that causes them to want to stay out of world affairs.  The largest draws to Amansky are the ability to hide in the jungle, and the Academy of Song.  The leaders of Amansky believe that there are at least a dozen enclaves of outcasts and criminals from other nations hiding in their jungles.  They do little to find these enclaves as long as they do not harm their citizens, and they do not allow other nations to send in groups to find them.  The Academy of Song was started four centuries ago.  It has grown to the point where it is mentioned along with the bardic colleges.  Young students from many nations make the dangerous journey into the jungle to find the Academy and learn there.

Few of the other nations pay any attention to Amansky.  It is set at least five hundred miles from any other major nation, and the jungles pose a serious challenge to any invader.  The Fire Giants of Baenrl that have been seen scouting the jungles are the only minor challenge to the sovereignty of Amansky.  The true danger lies in the religions of Habololy that see a cult active and accepted in Amansky.  Agents of the Counsil have been found trying to sabotage or overtly destroy the cult of Hemator in the communities of the Nipits.

NOTABLE PERSONALITIES

  • Teelia Wonderword (ni NG Wz12/AS6), headmistress of the Academy of Song.  A beautiful and intelligent nipette, Teelia has been headmistress for four years.  She continues the tradition of welcoming any good and noble creature that wishes to learn the magic of sound and song.  She holds no political views other than respect for the nation that allows the academy to flourish.

  • Ascium Si~ell (ni NG Wz3/No3), the Chancellor of Amansky.  He has been the elected leader for twelve years.  Ascium is from the Stetter province.  He is known for his adherence to traditional and established ways.  He was a student of the Academy, and also traveled to many of the other nations of the main continent before becoming the Chancellor.

Now here lies the greatest challenge a pathfinder could hope for; a nation which sits in a place called the Hiding Jungle. A place where magic and the deities are all but useless to aid your exploration. Only mortal skill will allow you to conquer this place.                     The jungle is full of life, much of which ha never been catalogued. Few of the towns and cities have any true roads or paths leading to them and between them. A dream come true is what I call it.
