Session 19: Stranded on Dakon (Summer 816)

  • With the Whitesword gone, the group has no way home. They talk with the assembled deities who tell them the best option is to head towards a new rift that is going to open in a far away land on the border. The group agrees this is their best chance and find a ship to take them in that direction.
  • The voyage is aboard a possessed ship. While on the trip, they run into Will O Wisps and a sea monster; but are able to drive both away from the ship.
  • After reaching their destination, the group encounters a town of winged reptiles and rests before the next part of their journey which will be aboard a ship with living crew members.
  • On the firs night, mephits outside of the town announce the arrival of their lord, a fire giant. The giant is there for Prince Uther, cleric of Gyru. The giant charges but is blinded by magic. The group rushes to attack and surrounds the giant. After a few furious moments of combat, it is defeated.

Session 20: Sailing Dakon (Summer 816)

  • The Fire Giant came to find Prince Uther. He was enticed by a bounty and did not expect to find them. The group learns that time elsewhere is moving much more rapidly and that the longer it takes them to get off the world the worse it will be. They send the giant to a random plane of existence to rid themselves and the world of his danger.
  • They find a ship that will take them to the Glittering Isles, where from there they can hopefully find a larger ship to sail across the vast sea. The voyage to the Glittering Isles aboard the bamboo Catamaran is rough sailing. Ruby is sick for days and the group has to fight off a giant Octopus.
  • Once at the isles, they scout for a larger boat. Finally, they find some at a besieged city. Entering the city, they discover gnomes and other creatures in a desperate fight against humanoids.

Session 21: Siege Breaking (Summer 816)

  • The group devises a plan to stall the siege to give time for the city's inhabitants to find ways out of the city. The hope is to get a duel with one of the leaders, but it is not expected they would go for that, seeing as the enemy has the advantage. Instead, the group decides to sneak out and begin to disrupt the trench works nearing the city.
  • Traveling out invisible, the group reaching an enemy bunker, wipes out the defenders, and begins to work its way down the trench. As they do this, two wyvern descend on them. Godric quickly dispatched one and a rider, and the other flees. The group makes its way back towards the city. Two groups of warg cavalry form up and begin to advance. The group gets ready, confident they can defeat the cavalry. Before the reach the group, horns blow and a third cavalry group makes its way.
  • Once the groups reach each other, Ruby begins to rain down lightning on them, chipping away at their numbers. Just before the pack arrives, the group takes cover in the trench and prepares to fight. The cavalry stops and a flying warg and hobgoblin speaks. Impressed by them and looking for sport and slaves for ransom, he offers a challenge of champions. The group picks Godric with Ruby as his 2nd and agrees. If Godric wins, the women and children will be given weeks to safely leave.
  • The battle is swift with Godric saved by Ruby's spell that allows him to pierce the darkness around the champion. Godric wins and the group is given them promised time.
  • Back in the city, they announce the victory and plans to move everyone out begin. Not everyone can leave, so Ruby offers to begin to plane shift some to unfortunately random planes. Some agree that is better than certain slavery or death, so for a day she does. At the end of the day, and annoyed Deidre appears and whisks them to another part of the world.

Session 22: Banished to the North (Summer 816)

  • The group determines they have been sent to the lands of the Celdan, near to their target location of the standing stone line. The landscape is empty of living things, including nothing in the many villages they find on their way north. For many days they travel until they come upon a seemingly empty fortress. It turns out to be inhabited by undead. The undead king is cursed, but he manages to show them a map of the way before trying to trap them with a feast. The group flees quickly.
  • The journey brings them next to a city filled with hungry orcs and goblins. The group avoids the city and continues north. Finally, they reach another fortress surrounded by a horde of humans. Dylan, Lachlyn, and Tessa infiltrate and find a barbaric menagerie worshipping a goddess of slaughter. They are waiting to get through the standing stone line to take over the cursed lands. Dylan almost gets caught and returns to the group with information.

Session 23: No Escape (Summer 816)

  • The group does more reconnaissance. They plan and decide to rescue one of the humans form a cage, who they recognize as Burke. They free him will little trouble and no combat. Once he makes his way to the group, he tells them about the imposters leading the horde. They will not be going to the cursed land, but rather to Habololy to cause havoc.
  • The group decides to free Burke father Angus and the two immortals will cut their way through the horde allowing the group to escape through the soon to open portal. Before they get to Angus, the group gets into the castle he is held in and destroys two giant zombies which are acting as guard safes for the magic swords of Burke and his father.
  • Waiting until they begin to move Angus and nearing the time of the rift opening, the group sets upon the brethren transporting him. These berserkers grow stronger as their brothers die. The plan is to kill a few at once and then subdue the rest. Burke ignores the plan and begins to kill the brethren. Once free, Angus attacks as well. The group tries to stick to the plan, but the immortals kills their way through the berserkers.
  • Once complete, the other guards watching flee. The group finds another way through the castle to the portal. Managing to go through when it opens, they are confronted by a battle on the other side and Russel, who tells them to find another way.
